Follow the instructions in the installer. Once installed, the application is available by default through:
- Start Menu → All Programs → Side Effects Software → Houdini version
The licensing menu will appear during the installation process if no installed licenses can be detected.
- If you are installing Apprentice or Indie, choose Apprentice Licensing. This will take out the complexities of running a local license server.
- If you are installing a commercial product, choose Commercial Licensing.

This should create a directory calledhoudini-17.5.173.16-linux_x86_64_gcc4.8/ - Run the houdini.install script:
